Sequent Technology Enables CIBC Clients to Enjoy Rich Mobile Commerce Experience on NFC-Enabled Mobile Devices
San Francisco, CA — California-based Sequent, a leading provider of Trusted Service Manager (TSM) and mobile commerce software and services, today announced that CIBC, a leading North America financial institution, is licensing the Sequent Wallet Management Platform for the CIBC Mobile Payment Service in Canada. Since the launch of CIBC’s Mobile Payments App in November 2012, CIBC clients with eligible credit cards are able to use select mobile devices enabled with Near Field Communication (NFC) to make contactless payments at participating merchants throughout Canada and abroad.
Consumers can pay with CIBC credit cards by simply holding their NFC-enabled mobile device up to a contactless payment terminal. The CIBC mobile wallet works with NFC devices with secure SIM cards and can be used at thousands of merchants where contactless payments are accepted.
“The Canadian market is one of the most advanced markets globally for contactless cards, terminals and smartphones, primed for mobile innovation on multiple fronts,” said Robb Duffield, CEO of Sequent. “Sequent Wallet Management Platform allows CIBC to provide clients with an enhanced shopping and payment experience with their mobile device.”
The Sequent Wallet Management Platform enables mobile commerce on a wide range of mobile devices and multiple operating systems, including Android, Blackberry, and Windows. In addition, it provides the capability for apps from banks, merchants, and other service providers to add secure payments on NFC-enabled devices.
Sequent provides a leading Trusted Service Manager (TSM) software and services platform. Sequent’s comprehensive SE-TSM Secure Element Management service supports diverse contactless security technologies while rapidly onboarding issuers and application providers. Sequent’s SP-TSM software enables banks and other service providers to provision and manage their own credentials on the secure elements of mobile phones. Sequent’s Wallet Enablement Platform makes it easy to add Near Field Communication (NFC) payments and other credentials into rich, branded consumer mobile apps.
